description_en: Genus of 10 species of freely branching, epiphytic or rock-dwelling, perennial cacti, found in rainforest in subtropical and tropical Central and South America, and the West Indies. They have cylindrical primary stems, rounded in cross-section, and flattened lateral stems. Funnel-shaped or tubular, diurnal flowers, sometimes sweetly scented, are borne on marginal areoles, followed by spherical to ovoid, usually white or greenish white fruits with black seeds. In frost-prone areas, grow in a container or hanging basket in a warm greenhouse; in warmer regions, grow epiphytically.
