description_en: Genus, closely related to Hippeastrum, of about 35 species of bulbous perennials from coastal sands to rocky, dry sites in the mountains of Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile. They are grown for their funnel-shaped flowers, borne in umbels on leafless stems in summer or autumn. The basal leaves are linear and mid-green. Grow in an alpine house; in frost-free areas, however, R. advena and R. pratensis may be grown outdoors against a warm, sunny wall.
