Distribution en: Texas to N. & W. Mexico
Description en: Genus of2 species of variable, perennial cacti occurring in semi-arid areas of S. Texas (USA), and N. and E. Mexico. They have thick, tuberous rootstocks, and flattened-spherical stems that may become more cylindrical with age. Areoles bear a few weak spines when young, later just a few white hairs. Diurnal, solitary, bell-shaped flowers are produced at the tips of the stems and last 2-3 days. Where temperatures drop below 10°C (50°F), grow in a warm greenhouse or as houseplants; in warmer climates, plant outdoors in a desert garden, preferably on sloping ground.

Description ja: POWOの種数は2023-07-10では2種だったが、08-29では4種 (L. alberto-vojtechii, L. diffusa, L. fricii, L. williamsii) になっていた。根拠となる文献は不明。GBIFとCaryophyllales.net/Cactaceaeは L. diffusa, L. fricii, L. williamsii の3種、NCBIは L. koehresii を加えた5種を認めている。
