Description en: Genus of about 25 species of annuals, biennials, and evergreen perennials occurring near streams from Yemen to India. They have erect, often 4-angled, branched stems and stalkless to short-stalked, lance-shaped to elliptic, simple, entire leaves. They are grown for their saucer-shaped, fragrant, violet to blue, occasionally pink or white flowers, with yellow stamens, borne singly or in leafy cymes. In frost-prone areas, grow in a temperate greenhouse, in a conservatory, or as houseplants. In warmer areas, grow outdoors in a bed or border.
