description_en: Genus of 60 species of evergreen shrubs and trees occurring in forest and thickets from E. Asia to Indonesia and Malaysia, and from Australasia and the Pacific. They are grown for their axillary racemes of small, 3- to 5-petalled, bell-shaped, fringed, usually fragrant flowers, and for their colourful berries. The mainly alternate leaves are lance-shaped to broad-ovate or oblong, leathery, and entire or toothed. In frost-prone areas, grow in a cool greenhouse; in warmer areas, grow as specimen plants or in a shrub border.
