description_en: Genus of about 50 species of evergreen, epiphytic orchids, found at altitudes of 750-1,600m (2,500-5,200ft) in tropical regions of North, Central, and South America. They have horizontal to upright rhizomes and compressed, ovoid-spherical to cylindrical pseudo-bulbs, each with 1-3 strap-shaped to oblong-lance-shaped leaves. Racemes of up to 12 spider-like, fragrant, long-petalled, yellow to green flowers are borne laterally from the pseudobulb bases from spring to early summer.
