description_en: Genus of 5 species of evergreen shrubs found on dry slopes and grassland in southern Africa. They are grown for their showy, pea-like, red to purple flowers, borne in slender, axillary racemes from late spring to summer, and for their bladder-like fruits. Leaves are alternate and pinnate. In frost-prone climates, grow in a cool greenhouse; in milder areas, plant at the base of a sunny wall.
