description_en: Genus of about 10 species of dwarf, stemless, sometimes clustered, perennial succulents occurring in arid regions of South Africa. They have finger-like or kidney-shaped, fleshy, evergreen leaves, arranged in pairs; some species are briefly deciduous, the new leaves forming quickly as the old leaves die away. Solitary, short-stalked or stalkless, daisy-like, yellow, purple, red, or white flowers are borne in late summer. In frost-prone areas, grow in a cool or temperate greenhouse; in dry, frost-free areas, use in a desert garden.
