description_en: Genus of one species of semi-evergreen tree found in tropical forest in South America, and cultivated for its attractive habit and flowers. T. tipu has mainly alternate, pinnate leaves and arching to pendent, terminal or axillary racemes or panicles of pea-like flowers. Where temperatures fall below 10°C (50°F), grow in a cool or temperate greenhouse; flowers are seldom produced when grown in a container. In warmer areas, grow as a shade or avenue tree.
