description_en: Genus of one species of vigorous, dwarf, monoecious, evergreen perennial from moist, shaded sites in W. Mediterranean islands. It is cultivated for its fresh green foliage, and tolerates a wide range of conditions. Where temperatures fall below -5°C (23°F), grow as a houseplant, in a terrarium, or in a cool to warm greenhouse or conservatory. In warmer areas, it provides ground cover in difficult sites outdoors, but is often invasive; it is difficult to eradicate.
