description_en: Genus of one species of almost stemless palm from wooded, swampy areas in coastal S.E. USA. It is grown for its fan-shaped, palmately lobed leaves, cut almost to the midribs. The tiny, bowl-shaped, 3-petalled flowers are borne in small panicles among the leaf sheaths. In frost-prone areas, grow in a cool or temperate greenhouse. In warmer areas, use as a lawn or courtyard specimen.
