Distribution en: NE. Mexico

Description en: Genus of one species of low-growing, simple, sometimes clustering perennial cactus, closely related to Ariocarpus, found on periodically dry, rocky hillsides in N.E. Mexico. Its stems are covered by leaf-like, spirally arranged tubercles. Funnel-shaped flowers are produced from the woolly, depressed centre of each crown during daytime in summer; they are followed by white berries containing pear-shaped, slightly curved seeds. Below 10°C (50°F), grow in a temperate greenhouse; in warm, dry climates, use in a desert garden.
