Description en: Genus of 3 species of evergreen shrubs found in coppices and thickets, often in coastal areas, in tropical North and South America. They have alternate, simple to palmately lobed, toothed, pale to mid-green leaves, and solitary, axillary or terminal racemes of long-stemmed, pendent, red, pink, or white flowers. The flowers are similar to those of Hibiscus, although the long petals only partially unfurl, producing a narrowly funnel-shaped outline. In frost-prone climates, grow in a temperate or warm greenhouse. In warmer areas, grow in a shrub border or as an informal hedge.
