description_en: Genus of 40 species of basal-rosetted, perennial succulents, closely related to Echeveria. mainly from hilly and low mountainous areas of S. and S.W. USA and N. and N.W. Mexico. Often low-growing, they Produce dense rosettes of ovate to linear, succulent leaves. In spring or early summer, tubular, bell-, or star-shaped, yellow, white, or red flowers are borne in panicles from the leaf axils. In frost-prone areas, grow as houseplants or in a cool or temperate greenhouse; in warmer climates, use in a border with other succulents.
