Distribution en: NW. Argentina
Description en: Genus of 2 species of spherical to columnar, perennial cacti from hillsides in Argentina. They have very thick stems and densely spiny ribs. Tubular flowers are produced mainly near the top of the stems, the style and stamens protruding in a cluster from each almost closed throat. Spherical, scaly fruits have woolly tufts, which later fall, and large, helmet-shaped black seeds. In frost-prone areas, grow in a warm greenhouse. In warmer climates, grow in a border with other succulents.

Pests en: Mealybugs and root mealybugs may be troublesome, especially in containers.
Description ja: 属名は自生地であるMendozaのアナグラム。
Comment:
Comment ja: POWOでは2022-05-14時点では正名だったが、2025年にはEchinopsisの異名となっている。Echinopsisの範囲をどこまでにするかによるが、Romeiro-Brito et al. (2023) ではDenmoza, Lobivia, Setiechinopsis, Soehrensia, Trichocereus などを含むクレードをEchinopsis としている。POWOではDenmozaをEchinopsisに含めているが、他の属は正名としているので、本データベースでは当面Denmozaも正名とする。
