Description en: Genus of 2 species of annuals, with hair-less, strongly aromatic foliage, occurring in scrub, wasteland, fallow fields, or steppes in the E. Mediterranean region. The basal leaves are ovate and either pinnate to 3-pinnate, with toothed, linear or oblong leaflets, or pinnatisect; the upper leaves are pinnate to 3-pinnate with linear leaflets. Terminal, compound umbels of small, cup-shaped, white or purple-flushed sterile flowers, surrounded by larger fertile flowers, are followed by spherical, ribbed fruits. Grow in a herb garden for the leaves and seeds, which are used in cooking.
