description_en: Genus of about 16 species of evergreen, often spiny trees and shrubs from open forest, thickets, and scrub in S.E. Asia and the larger islands in the E. Pacific. The leaves are alternate and simple, usually with winged stalks. Shallowly cup-shaped, 5-petalled, often scented white flowers, 2-5cm (1-2in) across, are borne in small, axillary racemes or corymbs. The familiar citrus fruits take about one year to mature. In frost-prone regions, grow in a cool or temperate greenhouse or conservatory. In warmer climates, grow as specimen plants, or in a fruit garden.
