説明（英語）: Genus of 10 or 11 species of evergreen, monoecious, coniferous trees found in forest from the Himalayas to N. Burma, W. Vietnam, China, Taiwan, and Japan, and in North America. Flattened, usually linear leaves, with silvery white bands beneath, are radially arranged or 2-ranked, and vary in length along the shoots. The small, ovoid-oblong to almost spherical, terminal, pale to mid-brown female cones become pendent, similar to those of Picea, but with few scales; male cones are almost spherical, 3-5mm (1/8-1/4in) across, and borne at the tips of lateral shoots. The leading shoot is pendent. Tsugas are excellent specimen trees and very shade-tolerant, especially when young. T. heterophylla is suitable for hedging. The dwarf cultivars are all suitable for bonsai work.
