原生地・分布(英語):
説明(英語): Genus of about 25 species of aromatic, evergreen shrubs and subshrubs occurring in dry, sunny, exposed, rocky habitats from the Canary Islands, the Mediterranean, and N.E. Africa to S.W. Asia and India. The leaves are opposite, and may be simple and entire, or toothed to pinnatifid, pinnate, or 2-pinnate, with the margins usually rolled under. They are cultivated for their mainly long-stalked spikes of fragrant, tubular, 2-lipped flowers, which, in many species, have a very high nectar content, making them particularly attractive to bees. In warm areas, lavenders are suitable for a variety of situations, from a shrub border to a rock garden, and are useful for edging and as a low hedge. In frost-prone climates, the half-hardy species should be grown at the base of a warm, sunny wall, or in a container which can be overwintered in a cool greenhouse or conservatory. The leaves and flowerheads are often dried for use in sachets or pot-pourri. If grown for drying, cut the flowerheads before they are fully open.
耐寒性(英語): Fully hardy to half hardy.
栽培(英語):
繁殖(英語): Sow seed in containers in a cold frame in spring, or take semi-ripe cuttings in summer.
病害虫(英語): Froghoppers, honey fungus, and grey mould (Botrytis) may be troublesome.
