説明（英語）: Genus of about 25 species of deciduous shrubs, sometimes trees, found in dry soils in woodland and thickets, from S. Europe, E. Africa, Turkey, Iran, C. Asia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Himalayas. They are grown for their pinnate leaves, with entire, usually elliptic to obovate leaflets, their pea-like, yellow to red-brown flowers, borne in few-flowered, axillary, long-stalked racemes, and their unusual, inflated, membranous, bladder-like fruits. Coluteas are suitable for a shrub border; those described are useful for an exposed site or dry, sunny bank. They tolerate poor, dry soils, coastal conditions, and urban pollution. Seeds may cause mild stomach upset if ingested.
