広義のPereskiaは側系統であり、3群に分かれる。サボテン科で最初に分岐したクレードがLeuenbergeriaとなり、8種を含む。残り2群は姉妹群であり、これを合わせてPereskiaとするか (APW、World Flora Onlineなど)、Pereskia s.s. (4種) +Rhodocactus (5種) とするか (Plants of the World Onlineなど) で意見が分かれる。P. sacharosaはRhodocactusクレードに含まれる。
