よくあるロゼット型の多肉植物で、葉に模様が入るのが特徴。花は鮮やかな橙色で花冠の先端に向かって黄色になる。エケベリア属はアメリカ大陸に自生し、セダム属に近縁で、花冠は合弁花で５裂することが多い。
