シバザクラ

Phlox subulata L.

Order Ericales, Family Polemoniaceae, Subfamily Polemonioideae

地面を這うように広がる常緑多年草で、4〜5月に株を覆うように花をつける。花色は野生型の紅紫色から青紫、白がある。グラウンドカバーとして利用され、観光スポットとして大面積に植栽されているところがある。

Distribution range: Central & E. Canada to E. Central & E. U.S.A.
